catching ya'll up...

As of yesterday I have been in New Orleans for a whole week...and it has gone by REALLY fast. Just getting things lined up for school and work and life have kept me busy. Yesterday I went over to the westbank (have you seen the movie deja vu? thats the bridge you cross to get to the westbank) to get my fingerprints done. On the way back, I got to take the ferry. It was fun...and I got to see the city from a view I hadn't seen it from before. As of today, I am officially a substitute teacher...which is so exciting!

It's also heading into the peak of carnival season here in NOLA with mardi gras just a few days away. I went to my first parade on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. There were lots of creative floats and good marching bands...and tons and tons of beads. There are a lot more parades to come, which I am really looking forward to.

Weather has been okay...kind of cold, but for the most part sunny. Today we're actually under severe storm and tornado warning...which is obviously a new experience for me...

here are some pictures from my adventures so far...enjoy!

this is a float (kind of blurry...sorry!) and people throwing beads off of it
